The mechanism no one explained

It's not fussiness. It's Gravitational Reflux Compounding.

Lay a baby with an immature stomach valve flat on their back after a feed, and three forces stack up at once — each one making the next worse. That pile-up is why nothing you've tried has fully worked. Here's what's actually happening inside.

Force 1 · Acid climbs

Flat, gravity stops working for you. Milk and acid slide back up the food pipe and burn — so they stiffen, arch, and cry.

Force 2 · Gas traps

Flat, swallowed wind has no way up. It stays locked in and builds hard, tight pressure that no burping can reach.

CradleRest problem section - baby arching flat on back

Force 3 · Cortisol spikes

The pain floods their body with stress hormones that shred sleep — so they wake 30 minutes later, every time.

The result · Only your arms

Held upright on your chest, all three forces ease at once. That's why your arms are the only thing that works.

Three forces, one cause — and one answer. The instant your baby is back in that calm, upright, supported position, the pile-up unwinds. You were never doing it wrong. You just needed to hold that position without holding it yourself.

CradleRest founder portrait - NICU nurse and her baby
Our founder

The reflux mom who cracked the code.

"I was the mother crying in my car at 3am in the Target parking lot."

My son had reflux from three weeks old. Gaviscon made him constipated. Hydrolysed formula — no difference. We tried a wedge, a lounger, everything. Nothing worked. He'd only sleep upright on my chest, and every time I laid him flat he'd arch and scream like I was hurting him.

I'm a NICU nurse. And it took me embarrassingly long to connect what I did every shift — positioning reflux-prone preemies upright and supported — with what was happening in my own living room, where I'd been told the same thing every parent is told: lay him flat, wait it out.

So one night I stopped waiting. I recreated the position I trusted at work. He slept four hours. I cried again — this time from relief. But pillows flatten and towels slide, and I knew how unsafe that was. So I built the thing that simply holds the position — firmly, safely, for supervised awake-time. Not a sleeper. For the awake, refluxing baby after a feed, when your arms are the only thing that works and they need to come off for five minutes.

— Founder, Laura Bennett. I built it for the woman I was in that parking lot.

The 3-Point Relief Position System

CradleRest recreates the exact position babies already calm in.

Not a wedge. Not a lounger. A complete, purpose-built system engineered to recreate the position your baby already chooses in your arms — and to hold it.

NICU-Calibrated 15° Incline

The same gentle head elevation neonatal units use — engineered into firm foam that holds the angle instead of flattening. Gravity keeps milk and acid down.

Pelvic-Tilt Gas Release

An integrated leg cushion tilts the pelvis forward — mimicking "bicycle legs," held continuously — so trapped gas can move and escape instead of building.

★★★★★Arms Back
"I got my arms back."

For eleven weeks she'd only settle on my chest. The first time I put her in this after a feed and she just… stayed calm… I sat down and my arms felt like they were mine again. I cried. My Isla is 10 months now and it's still the best thing we bought.

Hannah R.
★★★★★Worth It
"We tried literally everything before this."

Gaviscon, three formula switches, a cranial osteopath, a wedge. Nothing. This was the first thing that actually stopped the arching after feeds. I'm not exaggerating when I say it saved my sanity.

Megan T.
★★★★★Sleep
"The 3am screaming stopped."

He used to wake at 3am and not resettle till 6. First week using this after his late feed, we got a four-hour stretch. I forgot what that felt like.

Sophie L.
★★★★★Peace of Mind
"Finally showered without a screaming soundtrack."

I could put her down, supervised, right next to me, and actually eat a hot meal. Sounds tiny. It was everything.

Priya K.
★★★★★Easy To Use
"A NICU nurse designed it and it shows."

You can feel this was made by someone who understands positioning and safety. The foam is firm, the strap is solid. Not another flimsy dropshipped thing.

Danielle W.
★★★★★Gas
"The witching-hour gas finally eased."

Every evening 7–9 was pure screaming from trapped wind. The leg-cushion position genuinely helped him pass it. Evenings are calm now.

Rachel M.
★★★★★Reflux
"The back-arching stopped by week one."

The constant arch-and-scream after every feed is what broke me. This was the first thing that actually settled it. Wish I'd found it two months earlier.

Amara O.
★★★★★Sleep
"First four-hour stretch in two months."

I'd stopped believing longer sleep was possible. Used it after the late feed and got four hours. I actually teared up in the morning.

Bethany C.
★★★★★Arms Back
"I got to eat a hot dinner again."

Sounds small but I hadn't eaten with two hands in weeks. Put her down supervised right next to me and she stayed calm the whole meal.

Lena M.
★★★★★Worth It
"Cheaper than everything else we wasted money on."

We'd spent hundreds on formula, an osteopath, two other gadgets. This cost less than all of it and it's the only thing that worked.

Priyanka R.
★★★★★Gas
"No more frantic bicycle legs at midnight."

The trapped wind used to wake him screaming. The leg position does what we were doing by hand, but continuously. Game changer.

Grace T.
★★★★★Peace of Mind
"Finally stopped hovering over the bassinet."

I felt safe using it supervised right beside me. Firm, strapped, breathable. The peace of mind alone was worth it.

Nadia F.
★★★★★Sleep
"She naps in it every single afternoon now."

The catnaps used to be 20 minutes max. Now she'll do an hour, supervised, right after her feed. It gave me my afternoons back.

Chloe D.
★★★★★Sleep
"The endless night wakeups finally broke."

We were up every 40 minutes. The first night using this after his late feed he only stirred twice. I nearly cried from relief.

Tara B.
★★★★★Reflux
"No more milk coming back up after feeds."

She used to spit up and scream the second I laid her down. Held at the incline, it just… stays down. Wish the GP had told us about positioning.

Yusra K.
★★★★★Reflux
"Silent reflux was ruining us. Not anymore."

No one believed me because she wasn't a 'sicky' baby. The upright position was the only thing that eased the discomfort. Total lifesaver.

Meera S.
★★★★★Peace of Mind
"I finally trust putting her down."

After the recall headlines I was terrified of everything. This one's firm and strapped and I only use it while watching — it feels genuinely safe.

Hollie J.
★★★★★Gas
"The 6pm gas screaming is gone."

Every evening was agony from trapped wind. The leg tilt actually helps him pass it instead of building up. Our evenings are peaceful now.

Selin A.
★★★★★Gas
"Worth it for the colic evenings alone."

Colic had us pacing the hallway for hours. This calmed him in the one position that actually worked. Best money we spent all year.

Dominika P.
★★★★★Worth It
"Should've bought it two months sooner."

I hesitated because we'd wasted money on so many things. This is the one that worked. Only regret is not getting it the week he was born.

Farah N.
★★★★★Easy To Use
"Cover pops off and washes in seconds."

With a refluxy baby you're cleaning constantly. The cover zips off and goes straight in the machine. Such a small thing that matters so much.

Bao T.
★★★★★Easy To Use
"Grandma figured it out in one go."

Left it with my mum for the day and she used it with zero instructions. Strap's simple, position's obvious. Idiot-proof in the best way.

Iris W.
★★★★★Arms Back
"My partner finally got a turn too."

He only ever settled on me, so I was doing every nap. Now either of us can set him down calm — it saved my back and my sanity.

Questions?

We've got answers.

Is CradleRest safe for overnight sleep? Does it need supervision?

CradleRest is not a sleeper and not for unsupervised or overnight sleep. It's a positioning aid for supervised, awake-time settling — after feeds and during fussy periods, while you're watching. For actual sleep, always follow safe-sleep guidance: firm, flat, on the back, in a crib.

Is this safer than propping with pillows or a rolled towel?

Yes. Improvised, soft, sliding props are exactly what's unsafe. CradleRest holds a fixed, engineered position in firm foam with a strap, for supervised use — which is the whole reason our founder built it instead of continuing to stack pillows.

Gaviscon didn't work. Formula didn't work. Why would positioning work?

Because those treat an acid or feeding problem — and for many babies this was a position problem the whole time (see "Gravitational Reflux Compounding" above). Positioning addresses the mechanism the meds and formulas never touched.

Will it work for silent reflux?

Many parents of silent-reflux babies find the upright, supported position helps, because the mechanism — keeping milk and acid down with gentle elevation — is the same. It's not a cure or medical treatment; it's a calming position.

Will it work for colic / trapped gas?

The pelvic-tilt leg cushion is designed specifically to help trapped gas move instead of build. Parents dealing with gassy, colicky evenings are among our most relieved customers.

My baby is 6 months old — is it too late?

No. CradleRest supports babies 0–12 months. Older, refluxy babies benefit from the same position.

My baby was premature — is this safe for them?

The position itself is modeled on what NICUs use for preemies, but every premature baby is different — please clear it with your pediatrician first, and use only for supervised awake-time.

What happens once my baby outgrows it?

Most families use it hardest in the 0–6 month window and keep it for tummy time and travel after. Many pass it to a sibling or gift it — which is what the twin/gift bundle is for.

Can I use it for tummy time?

Yes — remove the leg cushion for supported, supervised tummy time.

How do I clean it?

The OEKO-TEX cover is removable and machine-washable.

How long does shipping take?
